Road Force Balancing - East Midlands
Discussion
Afternoon all,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reputable place to have a road force balance done? Pretty sure the place I had my tyres changed at recently only used a 'standard' balancer and now I have a very noticeable shimmy on the steering wheel above 70mph.
Before I start down the rabbit hole of checking bushes, control arms, etc, I wanted to look at the easy stuff first.
FYI The car in question is a 2018 Mercedes E63S AMG and i've recently (last 4 weeks) had front brake discs and pads replaced and four new tyres (all Michelin PS4S) in the last fortnight.
Any suggestions as to a decent place local to me to have the above done would be much appreciated. I'm located in between Nottingham and Derby but will travel further for the right place
I've not been filled with confidence when i've called a couple of local places, one in particular didn't even know what 'Road Force Balancing' was - so not ideal...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I used Imperial Tyres in Swindon, though that's miles away from you. A quick search found this lot who are a bit closer for you.

I had a similar problem (resonance noise) that turned out to be a buckled rear wheel... this was not spotted by two wheel balancing places. The hunter road force thing picked it up straight away, but the bloke showed me the wheel on the machine and he said it would have been pretty obvious from just looking at the wheel going round on a normal balancer. Impressive kit though.

Go on then i ll bite….what is Road Force Balancing ?
Basically laser aligned balancing, lasers on the machine measure the balance and pinpoint the exact location where any weights need to go. Better than traditional balancers apparently. At this stage I'll try anything because its ruining my enjoyment of the car.Gassing Station | Midlands | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
