With all the confusion of late I thought I'd start a new thread. So, who's in for this date.

I do feel that in the main we need a regular venue that we all know. Other meets could happen as and when but this venue has been used for quite a long time with no major issues. Anyway, it's all been discussed before so I'm not going to repeat it all over again.

Obviously I'm in.

Count me in Mike.

The cosy atmosphere of the present venue more than makes up for it's shortcomings.
The chip run remains a highlight.
My first ever ride in a Skoda.
And what an eye-opener.
Cheers Warren.
I'm sure somebody will be along in a minute to remind us about the crappy access etc. but I can live with it, even with minimal ground clearance.
On a plus point I like a "well off the beaten track" venue from a security point of view. ( or on a beaten track, even! I'll say it before someone else does!)

Might it be possible in the summer to have an occasional drive out to a venue say 20 or 30 miles away or a circular route ending up at Starkholmes or nearby?

Warren, the VSCC Cadwell Park meet is MAY 20th.

To all, please bring photos of your "previously owned" to pass round.
I will sort out a quiz or similar on a motoring theme if anyone is interested. A suitable prize will be on offer.

Mike, try and post on the correct forum next time! HA HA

See you all at Starkholmes. Geoff

I think I'm neutral (unusually for me ) on venue - the only thing that would spoil it for me would be if a venue was chosen that was significantly further away for me. Starkeholmes and Oakerthorpe are about the same distance away and are about as far as I want to drive for an evening out during the working week, further would rule me out.

I think I might give this one a miss and go and visit the Coventry crowd. I am working in Coventry on the tuesday so it would be rude not to really

NOt sure yet but probably up for this one. Am the same as the prof, don't really want anything further away for me if possible. Takes an hour or so at it is.

I found the drive home from Starkholmes a bit of a drag, but I'll go with the flow.

Agreed. One meet in 3 or 4 there would be good though.

I'm in Stafford, further east than Starkholmes/Oakerthorpe would be too far... I'm prepared to do a one hour drive but not really much more - does that help?

Worksop would be out for me - the AA has it at 1hr 34mins

I think the general area around Matlock is fine. Its quite central to the region and it appears to be an acceptable distance away for people to travel from the surrounding counties. As for the pubs themselves the Anchor has a great car park and better access but I do find the it a bit on the bland side. The White Lion has a far more pub like atmosphere but is let down by the road.

shirly that road with the random traffic lights will be fixed soon though.

I was reffering to the speed bumps that annoy some of the sports car owners. I am quite happy to take them at 30 in the Jeep

Hopefully I can make this one. I shan't be bringing any of my 'previously owned' car pics though sleep

one of the problems, as far as i can see, is that, (im guessing), most of us dont know where the rest of us lives. this then makes it more difficult to arrange a suitable meeting spot.
now, obviously, you cant please all of the people, all of the time, and there are always going to be people that are unhappy with the choice of venue.
my two pennath is that starkholmes is ok. it was relitivly easy to find. a comfy and quiet boozer. no dickheads there. i didnt feel uncomfatable about leaving my car in the car park. allthough i wouldnt want to drive much futher than that.
oh, and as for where i live? im between sheffield and chesterfield.

would somewhere near worksop suit the majority any better.

I think maybe we should start a list of names and places we live. I live between Newark and Nottingham so would like to have a meet nearer to home But I think the Matlock area is ok, but it is a ballache driving back at night. Although in the summer I bet its great. When I get the Zonda down, I definately wont be risking taking it to Starkholmes, might have to resort to going to Oakerthorpe that week.

How about someone nearer to you Prof? Got any suggestions?
I'm not really fussed about venue. I enjoy the drive there and back. If there is a mini drive during evening, that's a bonus.
