Hello everyone,

I think you all will have seen adverts for car sharing clubs such as P1, Ecurie 250 and Club GT. The concept is great, why buy one car when there are so many to choose from( shall I have the 911 Turbo or 599 today ?). The problem with these is the cost, membership ranges from £4-15,000 per year.(on top of this they all seem to be in London!) This got me thinking of having a similar club but with hot hatches, which would keep cost and therefore membership fees down. I have done some initial sums and would like to know if this is a stupid idea or not and if anybody would be interested. My first thoughts were 5 cars (205 GTI, Clio Williams, 306 Rallye, Mk2 Golf GTI and Clio 172) and 20 members. I've done a bit of work with the calculator and half membership (roughly £750) would get around 15-20 days and 1250-1500 miles in these cars and double that for around £1250. I've posted this in the Midlands as that is where the cars would be based (probably near Bromsgrove). Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

Ben

Would there be any usage limitations? foreign trips, track days etc.

I wouldn't have a problem with track days, but it will probably mean a higher insurance excess during that day. Foreign trips again would be fine but may be subject to a small (around £20) fee for admin charges with insurance. Thanks for the reply, any more questions just ask

Seems a good idea and if it works, we could get something newer and more up to date on the fleet?

That was my thinking, as newer cars become more affordable they can be added. The possibilities are mouth watering at the moment - Clio Trophy, Focus RS, Golf R32, Clio 197, Leon Cupra R. My initial picks are intended to be both legendary in there ability to entertain as well as be quite wallet friendly as I will be setting this up from scratch. Thanks for the feedback, any more thoughts, criticism or whatever lets have it

Thanks

Ben

Would the fees cover everything bar fuel then? or are the estimated figures quoted to cover hire of the vehicles only?

Insurance, tax, mot, service, rac, air freshener ! The idea is you can come over on a friday afternoon, drive off into the sunset in your Clio Williams, fill it up with fuel before you bring it back, hand over the keys on monday morning (or sunday night, whichever would suit) and walk away. All this would cost 200 points (with 400 miles driven, at proposed points system)which would leave you with 1800 points with a full membership

Any questions just post them here, or if anybody would like to discuss it further I will send you my email or mobile number and we can have a chat

Thanks
