Curborough Sprint Meet 18/3/07
Discussion
I want to sprint my supercharged MX5, but am being frustrated by a ruling in the blue book which says: "L 11.5.1. Roadgoing Production Cars - ... Induction is free... forced induction equivalency applies (1.4 x engine cc) but it must remain in the same capacity class as the original car..." What the hell does that mean? How can a car with forced induction compete in the same class as cars without forced induction?
So far nobody has been able to give me a solid answer, not even (up to yet) the MSA. I've got the licence, I've joined the club (Notts Sports Car Club), registered for the championship, entered my first event (Three Sisters)and been accepted, but... I'm shit scared of paying a ninety quid entry fee and then failing scrutineering. (Its the embarrasment more than the cost).
Notts SCC has said they're happy for me to compete in their championship, but I know they can't speak for the individual scrutineers at the different venues. NSCC classes are different from the MSA. The Midland Speed Championship runs to the same rules as NSCC, so that participants can compete in the 2 championships. Notts will let me run in theirs, Midland won't.
I'm now at the stage where I'm reluctant to buy a roll-over bar and hat and suit, in fear of spending all that dough for nowt. I think I might cancel my first entry, and wait until I do get a definite answer.
Very, very, very frustrating.
Can't come Sunday btw. Mothers day.
