Currently thinking of planning a driving hol this summer
Might also be going on this Porsche Spa run in October but not too sure on that one yet!
Monaco for a week in July looks like what i'm thinking of doing so far, anyone done anything like this? Is it as fun as you'd imagine? and any tips!
Definetely doing Le Mans though next year, roll on 2008!!!
Regards,
Nicola

I am still trying to ship a car to the US this summer
I would love to do that with BG, rather than hire a car. The Bentley Drivers Club organise tours where dozens of cars are shipped over to go on organised runs with the American branch of the BDC, but they're a little too rich for me.It used to be relatively simple, but now? One can get a car in via two ways; 'display', or for 'private use by a non-resident'. The "display' route means you have to be registered for display at an official venue and you have to bond the car. Given that I plan to drive to the Pebble Beach Concours I am not an official displayer, and I don't wish to provide a bond which exceeds the value of the car. The other route is fine, except the non-resident has to enter with and leave with the car. I had planned to leave the car there for several months and make the odd trip over there to drive up to Canada, another through Yesomite, one east through Nevada, etc. The cost of shipping plus insurance (plus the thought of having it end up on some Devon beach somewhere) for only a 12 day bit of fun has put me off.

I'm off for a week around Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland via Monaco) in 2 weeks time with 10 other Ferrari's and Lambo's.
Hopefully I'll be back before you leave so I can post some photos and offer any advice.

I've just done this (almost - didn't go to Monaco) and tbh, whilst the bridge is fantastic, the roads around there aren't that great imo. If you're only going for the week I'd save the bridge for another time. Here's a suggestion for part of a route: (Which I didn't do 'cos I went to the bridge)
Take the autoroute to St Flour, an easy 8 hours, I stayed here http://www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/recherch/index-fa... If you look at a good map you can find a route that goes due east to Valence, and from there you can continue east up into the Vercours. All the roads there are driving heaven.
From there, you are just spoilt for choice for roads to Monaco, they're all great and you won't be dissapointed. The N85 is the route de Napolean, but its best south of Dignes les Bains.
North of Monaco is Sospel, and north of that leads you to the famous Col du Turini. Its all great around there.
Look up the town of Enrevaux. I haven't stopped there but it looked very interesting when I passed through. Its an old fortified Bastide town, and in that area are numerous long gorges.
Or you could do the gorges of Verdun and from there you can get to the picturesque town of Vence.
Monaco and back is quite a drive in a week, I would strongly recommend a first day and a last day on the autoroutes, ie get there as quick as poss, stay down there and then come back in one hit. There is loads more traffic in the northern half of france than the south, the southern half is much much better and I recommend maximisng your time there.

Have a look at Bavaria. You get the opportunity to nip across the border into Austria/Salzburg in no time and the scenery/roads are just sublime. If you've never done Autobahns before then prepare for the first 30 minutes to be sweaty palms time until you get used to just about everything moving so quickly.
I did this trip back in 2002 in a 355GTS and it was truly memorable.
