After what happened with the Porsche i've been looking around and now for a totally different car but fab none the less.....

Currently looking at purchasing a BMW 330Ci, 51 plate, SMG, very dark blue (midnight) with light biscuit leather interior, every option under the sun sat nav, DSG traction, TV, 6CD multi changer etc. etc. up at £12,499 60K on clock, full BMW SH and up for sale at a BMW main dealer.

Drove it and LOVED it, in a totally different way to the Porsche but there was some serious power there.

Is it worth it?

TVR Chimaera is OF COURSE being considered and needs no questions asking as i love the car!

The 330 Ci is an Auto and not an SMG or SSG. What i do need to know is the price about right?

Car will need to do 50 miles per day at least and start every time. Not be a pig in traffic but love hooning too!!

Have you any experience of autos? I actually really like slush boxes and have got very proficient at getting the best out of them, but they are not everyones cuppa.. My view is that if you have plenty of power and grunt they are the way to go, and are great in traffic, BUT they are not the same as a manual for a "sporty drive" on the bendy bits, like with a Caterfield or similar.

i agree, they can make overtaking easier if they are quick on the kickdown though.

you didnt send the porsche rear end through a hedge by any chance did ya?

if so, welcome to the club! smile

only cool people put 911's through hedges backwards, its all true!

edit to add, read the other thread, he sold it to somone else.

unlucky, although you sound like R5GTGAZ with all the "look at me, im getting a 911" type posts then didnt get one.

even one "am I the yougest 911 owner" and you didnt actually own it?

wink

Don't all modern BMW's have the "learn your driving style" auto? I had my 7 series one reset because the guy who owned it before must of ragged it far more than I was willing to (stayed in low gear way too long after kickdown).

You didn't. You came across as someone who was in the fortunate position to own one of their dream cars, full of the requisite excitement and wonder-lust.

You're doing well, CC, to be getting nice cars so early in life!

I always wanted a big-block Chevvy Corvette, but i was 24 before i managed to get the 7.4 litre V8 version i had always craved.
But it was worth the wait! (Well, apart form the 8 mpg, that is!)

Sounds like a nice car CC

I love auto speced up beamers and it sounds cheap to me? Just go on Auto trader and search for the same year and model to see what they are going for. Or look in classes guide? A girl in the motor trade, you shouldnt be paying retail prices. nono

For £12k though, you could buy your self a bullit proof S2000.......which would maybe suit your driving style a little better??? driving LOL

Hmm, paperbag I don't know how to use any of it and even had the traction off on the test drive! Will have to play with it, once i get the car, i don't even know how to switch the radio on or how to put the heaters on (electronic climate control) though the electronic seats are a nice touch that aren't too hard to use!!

You not coming to Denby? We need some more people!! and the run out is usually good fun. yes

Will post some pictures on Tuesday! biggrin
