As you all know i'm only 15, and have been looking for an Imp/mini past year, nothing's turned up but today i traveld to surrey and settled my deal for an 875 Imp, exterior is surface rust, will be stripped to metal, her names emma, purple, leather roof, mountney steering wheel and ALL MINE!
Pleased is not the word!
Now 2 1/2 years 'til i can drive
Here she is, soon to be orange with wide arches and 13X7 minilites or another 10" choice

Dan.

Nice one Dan!

There's nothing like restoring your own first car, you will learn loads and get great satisfaction from it. I 've been getting my hands oily and scraping my knuckles for 20 years now and I still love it.(and i'm still learning)
I think you need to set a up an Imp Restoration thread that will run for 2 1/2 years!

My mother had an Imp California and bought it brand new, great car.
Then in the 90s my brother bought a standard 875 Imp, we then changed the suspension with Monti carlo springs and koni shockers, that car could be chucked around a corner like no other car I have ever driven, the only problems we had were, the whale bone departing from the front middle mounting point, jumping out of second gear and the odd cooling problems.
My tips are to make sure the whale bone area I mentioned is strong and rust free and all cooling is in order, I personally would get a temperature gauge fitted, the engine is alloy and must not be over heated.
Your car brings back great memorys (and bad one's) and is a great car to work on, engine and gear box can be taken out in less than 1hr and needs no special tools.
Good luck with yours, it looks good already.

The only slilght downer is that every job that you do will take you twice as long as you expect!.... but if you remember that, then you shouldn't lose faith in the project.
Looking forward to seeing the job done!

i think so. something a little different, or get some racing mirrors, but it'd be tricky with the little out opening window.
