I know Rob, but i'm an old fashioned sort, and I like to stay to 1/2 revs for the 1st few hundred, then progressively open it up to 2/3 revs for another few hundred, then gradually more up to the 1st thousand miles. Then rag the nuts off it forever more.
When I worked for Daewoo, I used to have a new car every three months. Some of them I would run in, others I would abuse from day 1. The cars that I ran in were always sweeter and smoother and went better, the ones I ragged from day 1 were always shitters.
I know the engineering tolerances and modern oils mean you don't need to run an angine in anymore, but there's nothing wrong with common sense and a bit of mechanical empathy eh?
Anyway, 2500rpm in sixth is around 80mph, and 3000rpm is over a hundred, so i'm not exactly hanging about.

There was a big thread about it in GG a year or two ago. There was a link to an engineers website who said just that. But equally there were plenty of experts who disagreed. It was a good thread.
I think the consensus was that that a high rev bedding in was OK for a race engine, but a steady running in was better for a long term road car.
Unless of course, you have one of those cars where the hand built engines have already done many hours on the bench dyno, like a Bentley, Aston, new generation top Audis, Mercedes etc, before going in the car.
Personally, I can't see how running it in can do any harm, or how thrashing it can do any good, on a brand new engine.

Maybe up for this, bit of a schlep from me tho
As it will be my 1st run out, a little concerned that I will not be able
keep up with:
a) the regulars as I'm v average behind the wheel
& b) the exotica

Don't worry about the regulars, drive it how YOU want to drive it, all the "regulars" drive at different paces. So long as your behind me I don't care

The Exotica, now really you must be joking, they (Ferrari's, Lambo's etc.) are the most cautious drivers of them all, I find.
Now you really should be living up to your name and drive like a Porsche driver.....

BTW from your other post it shouldn't take you long to put my name to face!

On that basis pencil me in then, I'll do my best to drive in Walter Rohl stylee
