Anyone fancy a day at the strip?
These are usually fun days out, if it's dry!

I am meeting some pals from London at the Pod that day, so it'd be nice to go down with a few cars from this part of the world!
I'll be seeing if i can nurse the plump Jag through a few quarters!

It's worth a chance i guess. I know traction won't be brilliant in February but we might get lucky.

  • Sits, thinking, should i get some better rear tyres at, gulp, £290 each.*
That's the best price i can find for good 295/30x20.

I'm in no doubt that these are fast cars, but I've seen one today, coughing and sneezing, hissing and puffing. It sounded like it should be in a circus ring. I was expecting the wheels and doors to fall off, and coco the clown to get out.biggrin

Was it an early car, with maybe a high state of tune, John?

I am a big fan of the Lancer Evo and have indeed had a 260 and 340, both Vlll models. The 340 was mildly massaged by WRC, to 375 bhp and was genuinely quick.

What those cars get up to, with just 2 litres, is extraordinary, really.
The Evo 9 FQ 360 really is a £30K supercar-matcher bargain, although i know some people think they are all 'Vauxhall Cavalier-met-Halfords aftermarket counter-crashes'!

The S4 should be quite quick, with the 4wd, etc?

13.6 @ 103mph according to "Fast Saloons" but if I could get within a few seconds of it I'd be pleased. I'll have to see how I am by the 17th of Feb.

I've not done any drag raceing, apart from my Bandit at Ramsey sprint.

The XKR is meant to be 13.2 @ 106, so very similar!

I did a 10.8 @ 138 on my Hyabusa back in 1999.

Motor Trend have a best of 12.9 @ 110 for the Jag.
Traction is the biggest problem this car has. 0-30 isn't too quick!

You should have 285/30/20 on the back. IIRC I got mine for £255 each fitted. Dunlop do the SP9000 in the right size which is far cheaper (£180 ish) but I couldnt find out the load rating so played safe and got the standard Pirelli Pzero's
