Being one to frequent public houses in Lincoln, I wondered if you guys who have visited or live in Lincoln had a favourite pub?

Lol, I used to own the Portland on Portland street. Are you after real ale or girls? Or food?

Real ale probably Golden Eagle
Girls would be Revolution
Food would be William iv

The bailgate has a few good pubs. it all depends on whether you are looking for a rowdy drinkers pub or a nice quiet place for a drink and a chat...

Will26 have you seen the building work at the portland recently?? i think they are building some flats between the pub and sincil dike.

My fave at the moment is the Tap and Spile just off the high street, near Kind Bar (very fit bar maids), Pizza Express and Slug and Lettuce.

Anyone been in there, real ale, good live music and a great atmosphere. I've been here for 2 years and wanted to know of any good places I might be missing out on.

No I havent been down there for a while. Do you mean on the doctors car park? I tried to buy that a few years ago and they wanted huge sums for it.

The Peacock does very good food and always has some good ales on tap too. The car park is crap though.

Me and Mrs Bond frequent Gino's in the Bailgate, have their garlic pizza with tomato, followed by Penne alla Arriabata or pizza quattro fromage lick

Try also Nando's down on the Wharf if you want spicy, good value chicken.

Like the Slug and Lettuce and Dogma to drink in

for decent food in lincoln (shire) 15 mins down the bypass toward bassingham, the 5 bells, only prob is you will have to book most night to eat as even though they dont advertise they are full almost every night.

bit of a local gem that one wink try the stilton steak (might sound ming but its actually rather great)

also another hidden one is jocastas opposite the golf driving range, by whisby, really nice food everytime although it is a bit expensive.

and if you want the best good old fish and chips ive ever had make your way over to storton north of saxilby, there is a little chippy in the village that still uses the original coal fired cookers with original recipe for the batter and still use beef dripping instead of oil, you will never taste fish and chips like that anywhere, just remember to take cash, they still have the original till too!

Totally agree, great food and so hidden away. I also liked the Bottle & Glass in Harby before the people from the Wig & Mitre took over. It used to be a great cosy little place, roaring fires and rustic food. Now I've heard its as over priced as the Wig & Mitre itself.

been the wig and mitre a couple of times, its alright really, food is better than average, service is alright too, never been the bottle and glass but did see the name on the menu when at the wig, you should try the 5 bells in bassingham if you like rustic old time atmosphere with great food, i used to eat there almost every night (i lived round the corner and bought a house with a broken cooker that wasnt meant to be broken!) so for about 8 months I ate everynight, even had a tab from adrian (the owner) only becuase it was cheaper for him to take payment once a week rather than every day i bet!

hmm, i want stilton steak now frown shame i live 4 hours away though . . . . . . . . . .
