Right, after the success of the first pub-lunch (and the rather lesser turnout of the second one), and as the weather is (slowly) improving, it's time for a motorsport-focused weekend event.

...and there's lots on. The following is a short-list of motorsport events and dates. Post up which you would / wouldn't be interested in going to, and we'll see if we can't get a convoy together and a meet at one or two of them:-

Sat 22nd March: Britcar @ Silverstone
Mon 24th March: British GT / F3 @ Oulton Park
Mon 24th March: BRSCC racing @ Mallory Park
Mon 24th March: Classic Saloon raceday @ Castle Combe
Easter Weekend: Easter Thunderball @ Santa Pod

Sun 30th March: HSCC racing @ Donington Park

To kick things off, I'd definitely be up for any of the following, and would think about the others:-
- Britcar
- GT/F3
- HSCC

Cheers all,

Martin.

Oulton Park sounds good but Easter weekend is starting to fill up for me plus I don't like travelling any great distance on a Bank Holiday. I hate traffic jams.

There's a members only sprint at Curborough on the 30th.

Hi Piers,

Weather permitting (which this weekend is still an 'if') it looks like at least a couple of people are going to do this one. Some lovely metal in this year's championship...

But since there's not been a massive response to this thread, I'm tempted to just e-mail people about it and we can sort things out that way, if that's OK with you?

we could make an interesting drive over there too rather than M40 should people want to get up early enough.... biggrin

Best cross country route is from Southam-Priors Martson-Hellidon-Blakesly-Maidford. Pops out right in Silverstone village.

Sadly no - both Silverstone's website and the BRDC website seem curiously quiet on the subject of tickets.

Given that I only paid £20 for the FIA GT's there last year, I'd guess at between £10 and £20.

As for a back-roads run...if the weather's good enough to spectate, it'll be good enough for a B-road run! Think of a good rendezvous point for all of us...

maybe here?:

The little loop opposite the garage in Ufton...

It's on the way for pretty much anyone heading to silverstone (using Duncan's route) that's coming from anywhere west of southam.

Obviously I've no idea who's coming (and from where) so it's just a suggestion! smile

Route here-

double edit:
bagsy not leading.. as I have no sat-nav, and white roads are tricky to navigate whilst driving solo! yikes

Ooh yeah, those roads will do!

Did the first bit as part of an s2ki meet I organised 2 summers ago. Not sure some of them were too happy about how twisty the road was (or how quick I was pedalling along it, but that's another story...).

Looked at weather for the weekend earlier...still very 50/50...but watch this space/your inbox!

looks like a fantastic turnout from that thread.. I will be lan/home of the brave/free then however, hopefully piloting a mustang up Highway-1

MAke sure you take plenty of pics if you guys go.. quite a line-up of machinery by the look of it!

edited to ad:
have had a not-used-car-in-weeks-doh-the-battery's-flat incident this morning, but hopefully all (charge) will be resotred by saturday..

I'm quite tempted by that one too...

And the weather...is looking freaky! Accuweather suggests we're going to get continually alternating sun/sleet/snow!!! So anyone with soft-top cars had better be 'quick on the draw' hehe
