M42 speed cameras
Discussion
Travel this frequently. I have heard that they are on during limit being shown, however a taxi driver recently said that they are on full time, suppose this may explain why you dont see many people pelting it down at 85+.
ps the cameras are only on certain gantries. Cameras on these are both ways so if you can see camera for the other direction there is one in your direction. Maybe obvious but it helps me

I don't think they are on permanently, only when the limit signs are on. I do this section each way every day. If you look on the gantry you can see the cameras on the opposiet side as you approach - a gret box with a white square. Bad news but this scheme is being extended around B'ham generally and further up the M42.ps the cameras are only on certain gantries.
