I've had it for years, and am probably (for better or worse!) rather well known by it. But I picked it several years ago, when it was a number-plate I wanted to get for the then Civic and the ITR I'd decided would follow it (thought it would match the car well...didn't come off due to #-plate trader incompetence!), and it's probably not so relevant anymore.

Normally I wouldn't care - my online 'life' and my real life only coincide at meets and with a few friends who take me as I am. But events this weekend (watch this space...) have made me realise that they can cross paths a lot more and quite unexpectedly, and I'm not sure I can be bothered to (or will have the opportunity to) explain it all each time.

So I was wondering whether to go for something more 'ordinary' - Martin W being the default option in the absence of anything even remotely creative.

What do people think? And any (sensible!!! wink) suggestions?

Cheers,

M.

If you feel the need to "explain" it - just put a brief explaination on your profile page and don't worry about it.

I wouldn't bother changing it if I were you.

well, that's my opinion anyway, don't count for much! (but it is the first reply!)

Yes it would be nice to know why you feel compelled to change a name you have had for years.

Personally i would not change my pH name as its my initials and the start of my surname yes

If i could find the owner of P4SCO i would have made an offer ages ago yes

What I've noticed, when people change their name, is that in their profile, they put "formally known as *****"

Keep it, I think it's a very "PH" style handle.

No.

Despite the significant changes to PH recently, it is comforting to see familiar and recognisable user names across the site.

I also considered a new PH name recently, just for a change, but decided continuity was better.

Anyway I think you could have some guidance from upstairs.

I'll post up a 'review' tonight - Oli S is having a look at the draft I wrote (not for the front-page, sadly, just as a courtesy largely), so I'd like to see his comments before I post it up.

As for the event? Superb fun...these journalists pretend it's hard-work but they're lying...they just don't want the rest of us getting in on the act!!! biggrin

Only that I'd rather like to go on something like this again and my user-name probably isn't suggestive of a mature and reasonable adult...would YOU give a car to me to drive?!? laugh

Ahh...it probably makes no odds, and it IS me, or at least the online me. It's just a bit of a faff having to explain to people why you as a 30-something bloke has a user-name that at first impression is more at home on a MaxPower forum or something...as I said above - to friends and PH'ers it's nae bother, but to a Ford PR exec?!? scratchchin

Anyway, write up now posted here:-

Have a read...

I could go on at great length about how my user name came about

or I could just say it's a bit of a joke from 20 years ago.
It all depends on what mood I'm in. wink
