That you can look up on the VOSA web site a history of all your vehicles MOTs?

http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/html/home.html

I don't have the advisory info for the last MOT for the Chim so went to their web site to see if I could locate the info. Turns out you need the previous/current MOT certificate and your reg no and you can get the history. cool

Just checked my car out and it says advisory on "wipers not operating continually at low speed" and "oil leak". When I asked the dealer about the advisory they told me it was due to there being no screen wash. Does the dealer have a duty to inform me of what the advisory was on?

Usually the tester gives you a print out with the advisories printed on it or practically a book when my OH took his in for an MOT recently. Think they were trying to get some business a tactic which failed completely as we did all the work ourselves and took it back for the free retest. Don't think he'll be using that garage again smile

AceT,

Thanks for that link it could prove useful!

Don't forget that computer MOT's are a fairly new thing so it will take time.

But whilst on the subject of MOT's I learn't something new yesterday.
My MGB failed it's MOT last week and talking with the garage owner yesterday I found out that a split rubber boot on a track rod end is not a fail but one of two number plate lights is.
I may be just old and cynical but I reckon a TRE is more safety critical than half a number plate not being lit.

The dealer did the MOT, didn't get a print out at all. I don't think it's a big problem, it just annoys me that they didn't tell me.

Good link!
