I just filled the tank of our rental car and it's worked out at 8.4 mpg.
OOPS!

(Chevvy 4x4 6.0 V8).

I have been paying $2.35 here, so even with the rubbish exchange rate, around 1 pound sixty five pence, plus some for the smaller gallon here, so say 1 pound ninety pence.
1-90!

Against our 5 pounds a gallon!

No wonder so many people drive tuned V8s over here.

The consumptiopn is worse than it should be because i am really enjoying nailing this thing at every opportunity.
The low gears and 6.0 V8 grunt means it goes way better than i expected, especially from a start.

Something thirsty that will do 140-150mph on the run up to the pitlane at Bonneville naturally wink

If you're under 25 you'll have to pay an additional daily premium on top of whatever the rental costs are.

I think a Corvette for three weeks was £1200

I had a quick look, just now and it seems that anything more than a large sedan or mid-size suv, is going to cost you around £400 per week.

The excess is very high indeed if you are under 30.

The place i saw this week, with a Mustang V8 for hire, has £1,000 excess and costs circa £80 a day to rent.

The only top speed testing i did was at a dry lake in California, but that was three times in the 1980s through a club which had hired it for the weekend.
