MGB has gone!

Took it out for a good hoon today after the snow had gone, noticed it was very, very down on power, the window wipers weren't working, car kept jumping out of third gear?! and the heating system was not working at all, car was not idling right either. frownfrown

Rang up man I bought it off and said I wasn't happy with some things he said that he'd sorted on the car, he asked me what I wanted him to do, I told him to fix the problems he said he'd fixed and he said well I'd rather give you your money back??? Never heard that one before.

Anyway I decided to take the money frown

Back to the white whale 7 days a week until I find the next one, return of the '44??

Sorry to hear about that. I think you were very lucky to reach such a quick settlement though.

Sounds like a lucky escape. To be fair some of those problems could be down to the cold weather.

smile My main problem was the fact he said he'd fixed the heaters and he window wipers as part of the sale, obviously not, this is what I rang him about but he said he would not repair the car only give me my money back frown

If he'd just repaired the heaters and wipers I'd have been happy smile as agreed for the sale but he refused to do this, very strange altogether.

Sad to see the car go really but something just wasn't right when he told me he'd give my money back but not repair the car, so I took the money.

Sad, but as others have said a lucky escape frown

The jumping out of gear problem is usually down to worn synchros = gearbox rebuilt eek

Sellers remorse? perhaps he thought he shouldn't have sold it, and this was just the excuse to get it back if otherwise he was going to have to spend time & effort on the car for someone else's benefit?

Anyway, sounds like you may be well out of the car.

Now, I know where there's a nice Cadillac for sale biggrin

You know what? I really, really would like to. But Liz has had a new car earlier this year, and I've just spent another wheel barrow full of money on a new power steering pump and a new turbo on BG, and I just don't need another car.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling that that car in particular is a good 'un. It wants buying by someone, there aint many things on four wheels that can outdo an LS400 on the bombproof front.

Was it a private sale? If so you were very lucky, more often than not you would have got the response "oh dear thats unlucky" followed by a click and then the dial tone!

Although the cynic in me thinks this might be a rouse in order for you to get the PH record of most cars ever owned wink

Lol not private, no it was a little garage in Sheffield, I got it from!

I only rang up to moan about it and hopefully get the window wipers and heating done. Then before I knew it I have no car and a bit of extra cash??? frown

Give me a link, you never know ... though don't really see myself as a Cadillac driver, then again if it's a big old one surely it would have some road presence biggrin
