So, yesterday I noticed that Mrs. LQ's front tyres need replacing.

Today she parked up and left the lights on for 2 mins and the battery was flat.

And the Exhaust has just started to blow.

Is it telling us something I wonder?

Its a 2005 1.6 vvti petrol Corolla.

I can deal with the tyres and the battery but not sure about the exhaust since aftermarket seem both noisier and short lived.

Any suggestions about a source for supply and fit of a quality exhaust - Derby/Nottingham/Loughborough area?

Also a good indie service place since the main dealer prices seem to be out of control these days and there is no benefit to continue with them now the vehicle is getting older.

Hehe. How very unPC.

They built it so I suppose they might know what they are doing ... wonder if it might go to them as a Corolla and leave as an Auris? And would that be a good thing?

Turned out the exhaust is still OK but have not ascertained why it sounds like it is developing a hole somewhere. Unless the back box is full of water from too many short runs.

Tyres are tyres and they wear out - 24k from the fronts is not bad I guess, given the amount of work the power steering does in a stationary position when the wife is driving.

The battery was indeed almost extinct. Managed to save a few quid on the cost of the battery and, more importantly, avoid a main dealer 'fitting' charge by getting a deal on battery and tyres at the same time. Good service from the lads at Charlie Brown's in Long Eaton.

Still looking for any advice on service options. Will be due for a service in April/May.
