Hi everyone,

Some of us from TV&S are heading up to Scotland for a road trip and would like to stop off around Stoke on the way back for food and fuel, can you recommend anywhere for lunch which is close to the M6 and ideally a Shell or Tesco petrol station?

All help gratefully received, thanks!

2 Options...

Come off at Junction 14, Take the A34 towards Stoke & Newcastle, and there is a Chef & Brewer about 1/2 mile on the right (next to Arnold Clarke and Stafford Audi). Once you've eaten, continue up the A34 north towards Stoke & Newcastle, and there is a Shell in Stone, on the A34 itself. Continue up here to the A500 and pick up the M6 again at either J15 or J16 - depends which way you travel on the A500.

Other option is Exit at J15, take A500 towards Stoke, then A34 towards Newcastle. There is a Tesco about 2 miles up on the left. Continue up the A34 towards Newcastle, and there is a bar/restaurant called The Orange Tree about another half mile on the left. Continue up the A34, through Newcastle, onto A500 and rejoin the M6 at J16.

Just realised you've said you're doing Stoke on the way back - the directions above was based on coming from the South. You'll need to reverse them...

Don't worry, i have, we're hitting the Shell in Stone and then the Chef&Brewer before jumping back on the motorway.

Should be there around 1pm/2pm on Friday July 31st if you fancy joining us smile

Beware of the many speed cameras and Camera Partnership Talivans on the A34 southbound. More cameras than blimmin' Silverstone on GP weekend. Seriously - drive like a granny on the way to church for those few miles. It flits between 30, 40, 50 and 60 limits, so it's a real cash cow for them as it's mainly dual carriageway.

Not sure what my plans are that far ahead, but I'll make a note and see about joining you for lunch maybe!
