A quick heads up on behalf of someone I know who is a member of Carlton and District Motor Club.

They are holding a short series of meets at Wilson Golf Course, Green Lane, Wilson just of the A453 a mile or so south of Donington Park.

Thursday evenings so hopefully not too many clashes with other events.

May 21st
June 18th
July 16th
August 20th

Bar and snacks available.

Arrive any time after 18:45.

Sadly I couldn't get to the early part of this but I did see an immaculate early '50s Bristol on it's way home and arrived to find a varied selection including a 30's Aston Martin, a Bugatti Type B in very nearly original trim, an absolutely as original 40k mile TR4, a DHC Elan with a lot of patina, I nice looking original E-Type coupe, Austin 7, a Jowett and various other notables that I somehow did not get around to remembering in detail at the time.

I do recall an enduro rally prepared Escort, a visiting Ferrari, a rather rorty open Triumph Spitfire that may have had a larger than normal engine, a mark 1 Triumph 2.5 PI saloon, a nice looking Lotus Esprit and several other cars that were there at the time of my late arrival.

The Bugatti was clearly a some great interest to most there and there was much to be gleaned from the owner.

Nice location too. All being well with the weather I plan to be at the next one with the camera kit ready for deployment.

You know I only really saw the PI from the front having been distracted by the Bugatti engine and chatter but I thought it was white. The Spitfire certainly sounded more like a GT6 but I assume if modified it might have been easier to chop the top of a GT6 and strengthen that ...

Either of them (or both of them) yours by any chance? There can't be too many like that around .... wink

nope not mine but i know most triumph around this area and theres lots of guys in the notts area, think i may know who the loon was, and the spit6 is easy done, just take one gt6 and swap the body tube for a spitfire one as its seperate body and chassis

Bump.

The next meet is this Thursday so it seemed appropriate to provide a reminder.
