Just had a meeting with the GM at Cosford re: Future Breakfast Club meets as they are are implementing a £2:00 parking charge from August 1st. This is for all visitors not just car clubs.

The idea when I set up the Midlands Breakfast Club meet was to offer a free meet for car enthusiasts where no one was seen to make a profit. Originally held at my unit in Four Ashes but we soon out grew that so we decided to move to Cosford as it is a free Heritage site.

In my mind, I would have no qualms about paying £2.00 as everything else is free (apart from the breakfast!) and whilst the museums are free, they still have to try and bring in an income and £2.00 is hardly going to break the bank.

I just hope it doesn't put too many people off attending in what has turned out to be one of the best regular car meets in the Midlands and more importantly, a regular meeting place for many Classic Audi forum and club members.

Speaking for myself, I don't mind spending £2 on what is always a great event, to ensure it's future at a great venue. My only question would be, where are they planning on collecting the £2?

Already the event attracts quite a queue on the way in and holding hundreds of cars up further by collecting cash on the way could frustrate and push the queues further out.

So, in principal, no issue, just make sure it's done in an appropriate manner.

There will be 4 or 5 parking machines loacted around the site.

1 on the grassed area at the bottom.
1 on each of the main car parks.
1 outside the main building (I think)
1 outside hangers 2 & 3 and the Cold War Museum (top end).

It will be a pay and display system in place, so hopefully it won't hold up things too much.

That's OK then (although the ticket will blow off the Ariel, but that's another issue!) - I was envisioning a couple of people stood at the gate with ice cream cartons, swapping cash for tickets! Properly sorted, no one should really have an issues with this, if it keeps a great even alive at a great venue.

£3 for upto 3hrs and £3 for over? So, you're saying over 3hrs will cost £6? just so I'm straight on that one....

The fee is £2.00 for up to 3 hours and £3.00 for over 3 hours but what they have said is that the charges don't apply till 10am, so in effect if you arrive at 9am and pay £2.00 for 3 hours that will allow you to park up until 1pm anyway.
