After a new exhaust system and clutch last year the gearbox broke this morning. Beyond what I can do on the drive so waiting for a quote on it but I'm thinking it might be one bill too many.

So many options, so little cash.

Might be the linkage. Nothing rotating at the axle. The speedo was going up to 20ish mph when you put it in gear. Hopefully the garage will have a better look on a ramp than the RAC man did.

Not sure of the model number. It's a 1997 1.9D.

Quite! I had to go home and get the reliable car out. TVR is definitely winning over the VW.

woohoo

Car is back. John wins a banana.

There is a flange connecting the gearbox and the drive shaft which had sheared off its bolts. New flange and bolts and it is as good as new. Gearbox is fine. Phew.
