Morning all

I'm staying down in the area of M1 J25 on Monday, and meeting a mate for dinner - we were going to venture out to a decent village pub... can anybody recommend something within a 15-20 mile radius of the above location?

Thanks

The Red Lion at Bagthorpe ( my local ) the food is fantastic. All the meat is sourced through local butchers - 2 Minutes from Junction 27 M1.

aa autoroute NG16 5HE will get you there.

Make sure you book - They do get really busy.

I would recommend the Yorkshire fillet of Venison that is on the specials board at the minute.

I think Monday is quiz night - I never go I'm far too thick !!!

Or you could go to J24, take the A50 for one stop, take the old A6 to Shardlow, three pubs, one, The Crown, is just before the lights, turn left, it's on the left. We call it "The Jug Pub" because you can't hardly see the ceiling for water jugs. Also has a classic car meet.

The other two are the Malt Shovel and (I beleive) the Red Lion, go through the lights, look for The Navigation pub on the right, turn right immediately after this pub, go over the canal bridge and turn left, and they're both in front of you, alongside the canal.

All are traditional pub grub, rather than the gastro-pub stuff. The Crown and Malt Shovel both do real ales, the Crown moreso.
