Just to let every one know there's a parade being held on March 7th at Donington to show there's enough support to make restoring the circuit and keeping it as a motorsport venue a viable option rather then building on it.

The inevitable facebook group here:

Or you can email the organisers here: savedonington@live.co.uk

I think the petitions and show of support is brilliant. But without taking anything for granted, it's probably preaching to the already converted. No one can be in any doubt as to how fans feel about Donington, be it anybody involved at Donington, the local authority, chamber of commerce, tourist board, local government, car clubs, etc etc etc. It's a viable business venture in its own right, and whilst the cost of returning it to how it was previously is a bit of a crippler, it's not that major ameliorated over several seasons returns.

The statement from KW is reassuring. I doubt my signature will be much use to him, but if he wants a tenner from a few thousand people, I'm in.

I think most people involved with the circuit know how well it's liked and that it can make money but it doesn't do any harm to demonstrate the fact. You never know it might just be the bit extra that persuades the money men that it's worth investing in.

It's all very well to say, as Simon Gillett did, you'd get thousands of people turn up for a GP but the markets obviously didn't believe him or else the debenture scheme would have worked. It's rather more impressive if a few thousand people turn up, off their own bat and in their own time, to demonstrate there's a market for motorsport events there.

I also think it's worthwhile showing the Wheatcroft family how much their efforts are appreciated especially with the recent passing of Tom.

Hello,

I wish to bring to your attention the "Save Donington" support day on 7th March.

What started off as a few cars driving to the track, has turned into a major event, with displays, TV/radio interest and a huge autojumble.

I was hoping to encourage members of various car and bike clubs to attend, with an offer of a designated area for their vehicles to be displayed.

Please visit the website

www.savedonington.co.uk

and spread the word around the clubs. The more marques can turn up, the better the day will be.

We also wish to hear from any marshalls who are willing to help out on the day.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards,

Lee Coombs

10 am start time. Also auto jumble, trade stands, penny farthing [old time fair] childrens rides and lots of other things to do and see and reduced entrance to museum.

Hi Lee (Leroy Boyce),

I've sent you an e-mail regarding TVR Car Club participation. We should be able to get at least 7-8 TVRs to the event (probably more).

I think there's some pictures on the facebook site but basically there are a number of trenches across the track near the Melbourne Loop and Coppice, the rest appears to be cosmetic damage to the infield.
