Snake Pass on a Bank Holiday Monday

I've got to go from East to West tomorrow (to Manchester).
Choices are a combo of A1, M1, M6, M62 etc etc or Snake Pass. On a bank holiday Monday afternoon is it just going to be carnage that I'll wish I'd avoided? The Peaks strewn with lumps of caravan, born again bikers and dawdling tourists?

It will be very busy. You can't usually open it up or even make any overtakes as you'll either have traffic coming the other way or be the 47th person in a line following a caravanner 
I'll be up that way tomorrow going for a walk rather than a hoon for a change, though I'm tempted to get up there very early and do a run along the Pass before the blue rinse brigade takes over
