Just had a good quote on a new exhaust for the 500 from Midland Exhausts, as after less than 18months the original system is on the verge of dropping off.

Has anybody here used them?

Are these guys the same as MIJ Perfromance in Wallsall......... if so you may want to have a search around, particularly the TT forum....!! !

If it's not MIJ, then I've never heard of them!!

I don't know about Midland Exhausts but my brother got a custom system made at Torqueflow in Birmingham. The quality of the work is very good and they were competitively priced as well.

I got a new stainless cat back system for my old car from MIJ. Good price and nicely made.

Problem was that when I collected it they'd done it *far* too loud - it was bad enough to be embarrassing - it sounded like a mental Saxo fartcan, so I had to go back and they did it again. Second time round it was spot on soundwise. Looked nice too.

You need to have a butchers at the TT forum if it has even the slightest thing to do with MIJ! You will be utterly shocked at the system they did for a guy on there!

A way up north, but Pipewerx are meant to be very good with a good rep too.

Don't Miltek do one off the shelf for the 500 yet?

my afternoon at mij performance

i went to mij this afternoon to hae my nice exhaust made, and so gave them the keys so they went to work their magic, and i settled down in the waiting area to watch the tv.

whilst i was watching tv, 3 young chavs about 18yo came in to see if their car was ready, it wasnt so they said they would wait outside and have a fag

10-15mins later they came in cusing and swearing and rambling on about people being stabbed and they werent going back out there, and pointing across the road the to the off licence and a couple of young asian lads.

the one was covered in blood, it turned out the 3 chavs were outside when 4 lads barged past them almost knocking them over, ran across the road to the off licence where they started beating up one of the asian lads the other one tried to stop them and they belted him as well, the pushed the first one to the ground and stabbed him twice before running off.

then the ambulance came then the police, who sealed off the road and then came over to mij and took statements about what/if we had seen anything etc., then came the crime lads and photographed the scene

i know mij supply refreshments/entertaiment whilst you wait but this was more than i was expecting, im just wondering what happens if i went for a remap..lol

oh and the woman who works behind the counter, cant remember her name is quite fit.........in an older woman sort of way, and happy birthday to her as it was hers today

Eh?

Don't original systems last for about 10 years nowadays?

I've been thinking of using MIJ for my (non TT) Audi exhaust.
Have you got a link to the TT thread about them?

Linky! I'm really curious now but I can't find anything at all.
I don't think posting a link contravenes name and shame rules.

That is a real mess on the TT.

Thankfully the 500 is a pretty simple CAt back system, almost straight.

And it torns out that apparently Midlands exhaust is owned by an ex MIJ employee and they are on the same trading estate, I've seen some pics of Midlands work now and it looks pretty good to me.

You'll be sorry..........!

Try Piepwerx. Set up by Ian Birch of the twin engined VWs fame. Proper 304 stainless, that wont rust, (unliek certain exhaust co's in the midlands!) and they are a bit cheaper too. Well worth the trip up there.

This is proper 304 too, I'll see how it looks, if it's crap they can put the old one back on!!
