I hope Rick doesnt mind if I mention this here.

Last year in Derby we arranged to take children out in Astons and a few other cars.

The event is happening this year too. See here:

http://www.derbymotorservices.com/Open%20Day.html
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Charity Day - Sunday 26th of September

There will an auction of stuff where you can bid to get a book by the celebrated author "williamp" from pistonheads. He'll even sign the book for you with whatever message you want. There is an auction for other stuff too.

£15 signed, and you'll have to tolerate me turning up in a proper car.

I did this event last year, the best one of the year in fact, so if you're thinking about it and you've got an interesting motor and would like to attempt to show the Aston owners up, e-mail Rick at DMS via this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If, like me, you do a few shows through a year and towards the end of the season you get a bit jaded by them, then try this one, the look of genuine enthusiasm on the kids faces makes the effort worthwhile, (the coffee and bacon sandwiches aren't bad either.)

Are you folks going then?

It starts at 10.00am, kids arrive 10.30am, drive out at around 12 noon, map of the route is on the website, auction about 13.00pm.

I plan to leave here at 9.30am, anyone want to drop by and cruise into Derby with me?

The forecast is reasonable, sunny spells and staying dry until at least the evening.

BG is washed and leathered, full tank of V power.

It was a good day, lots of cars, interesting mix of people, nice run out, the weather held, if a little chilly. I think the local press came too, although no TV this year.
