My little sister is due front tyres on her car ('08 Fiesta Zetec-S) and wants to get them fitted whilst at work in Leamington. Kwik-Fit are the best price but won't quote without seeing the car even though my Sis knows the size and brand she wants (OEM Continentals). I've told her if she does go to KF not to be 'sold' any extras without calling me!

Any suggestions? I know PH'ers are a font knowledge.

Tell her to go a couple of miles down the road to Pro Tyre in Warwick. Speak to either Jason or Harry there and say that Matt has recommended them to her.

Know it's a bot further, but Britannia Tyres in Coventry usually beat most places. You can tell by the queues at times .Whether or not it's worth the drive will depend on prices-but they usually will quote over phone ,and are willing to give options .

Agree with ProTyre and Brittania above - Britannia usually cheaper but the queues are often longer - used them for years and the best times are VERY first-thing (i.e. get there before 8.30 when they open), or mid-week at ~4pm or so.

I've also used Silverline in Warwick - marginally more expensive but usually quieter (so the time saved IMHO is worth the extra few quid), plus they don't use airguns (Britannia tend to unless you ask nicely).

Service-wise, Britannia (airguns aside) are very good. Protyre it depends who you get - Jason is good, but others do come across as 'couldn't care less'. Silverline sound pretty lacklustre on the phone but do the job properly.

Thanks for all the advice. My little sis has had them done now although at none of the above I must be honest!

+1 for Silverline - we've bought all our tyres there for the last few years. Not necessarily as cheap as Britannia, but reasonable enough, and they take a bit of care over what they're doing.

If you've got alloys, and a VAG -and it's JUST some tyre places -check torque in handbook - some tend to read Ft/Lb as NM( i.e they torque to 120FtLb,NOT nm) .
