I'm travelling up to Burntwood, north of Birmingham tomorrow after work (around 6-7pm).
I'm trying to stay clear of any potential traffic problems and thinking about taking the A5 from the M1 all the way across to Burntwood. What is this road like? Will it be better than the M6, or shall I just stick with the Mway?

Thanks

I do this journey quite often and the M6 toll is by far the quickest, easiest and admitidly most expensive option.

Will the M6 up to the toll be reasonable clear?

Toll will be empty as an empty thing, where as the M6 round Brum will be nose to tail...

The A5 from J18 M1 is largely dual carriageway, but can be a bit snarly at Hinckley & Tamworth, so largely fine.

I might do M1/M6/M42 to get to the A5 at Tamworth, that route is normally pretty clear, albeit a touch slow (but never to a stop) on the Solihull bit of the 42.
