My son has just rang me and from his description of the symptoms it sounds like the clutch cable has broken in his 106. He's at Uni in Nottingham, can anyone recommend a small garage that wont rip him off?

If he's in the RAC or similar they should do it for him

Long gone are the days of the RAC or AA fixing things, if it's anything other than a puncture or empty tank they just tow you to the nearest Nationwide Auto Centre. It's just that I rather he goes to a small independent 'back street' type garage thats been recommended.

These nationwide chains seem to be a rip-off for anything other than basic servicing.

Trentside Garage, not far from Colwick racecourse. Small independent garage and they're really fair and helpful. Ask for Pete. 0115 9242362.

Sorry but you're wrong, my daughter had a clutch cable replaced in Devon in September. The guy went and bought one locally (which she paid for obviously)and he fitted it. That's why I suggested it wink

David Drews next to ladybay bridge, know for being good and reputable, quite a few people have used them off here (emma p, V15Ben etc)

Best garage is down at Basford on the S bends by the Swan public house. Think it's called Lindleys. They do lots or repairs as well as looking after lots of taxi's. Very fair operators and honest to. I've known then for at least 15 years.

I'll second that. They do a good job and tell you exactly what's up with the car, no BS! My old 182 spent many a happy day inside their compound happily spending my bank balance for me!

Another vote for them from me too. Fair and honest while being reasonably priced.
