And watch the tumbleweed...

I was about to post a belated happy new year thread as we have a bit of time on our hands, as Claire's slipped disc has flared up again. We're not sure if it was the whitewater rafting or trekking 2 hours up a muddy hill to see some gorillas, but for now we're holed up by Lake Victoria until it settles. Luckily you can buy all sorts of drugs over the counter so she is spending a great deal of time completely spaced out.

This also means that I'll be near the web for a few days and might actually be able to reply to any comments sooner rather than later (or not at all).

Anyhow, hope all is good in Brissle and we should have another update up soon, which will include the story of my cunningest bodge yet.

Still very very very very envious of your trip.
Hope Claire's back improves enough to continue fully enjoying the experience.

And the raft and gorillas To be fair the seats aren't too bad. Hey ho. At least I'm getting some of the website written up.

Good to hear you two are still up and about, (even if a little slowly for one of you..)

For some reason the webfilter at work refuses to let me into your site.. Just wondering what sort of pictures you've been posting..

Take it easy Bill - we'll probably raise a glass in aid of Claire's recovery this evening (curry night - aren't you jealous of us? No? Oh well...)

I can just imagine the quality venues the "ideas guru" (or should that be "ideas medicine man"??) is going to come up with now. After all he is getting some high quality dining experience at the moment!

Not as such, Sudan was pretty ropey but it should have been plain sailing from here on south... We have a wine box in the car and one campsite we stayed at sold fillet steak from the farm for 3 quid a kilo. Fantastic. We're holed up in a place on the beach on Lake Victoria and I even had a passable curry last night followed by the Chef's special dessert, The Tunza Special Deep Fried Chocolate and Caramel Admittedly it was a deep fried battered mars bar, but the thought was there

...probably best to read the Malawi and Mozambique sections in the reverse order to which they are posted, though!

It's not too clear, is it? I blame Claire (obviously)
