Good to see the podimore roundabout saftey scheme is working , the traffic lights havent been switched on yet and a transit went up the arse of a clio today , more will follow no doubt

And also the A37 is a f**king sh*t road and needs improving , 1st thing cut down all the f*king traffic lights , the bastard things are spreading like a disease

yeah wasnt bad untill i hit the friggin A37 , reckon i got a good 3ft of air in the scenic on the B3143 on the way to Corston

also the hot weather seems to bring out all the forty wits be it a 30/40/50/nsl 40 seems to be the only speed they know .

I live in Bristol and travel down to Yeovil dozens of times a year. Its a s**t road. I lived in Yeovil all my life until seven years ago and rarely came to Bristol so I didn't know it was so bad....

Two friends of mine run a courier business and on Friday afternoons they would each pick up a package in Bristol. One was for the BBC in London and the other was for Yeovil Town F.C. The guy who did the Yeovil one dropped his package off sometimes only 20 minutes before the guy did the London one. It took him a similar time to do 42 miles as the other one did over a hundred.

Says it all about this road.

I find it faster to get to Bristol from Yeovil via Taunton and the M5 rather than through Langport or up past Shepton Mallett. Have driven the route several hundred times in the past year and it's by far the fastest and simplest taking about an hour and 10 mins. Pity about Cartgate and the A358 where you're stuck at 45 mph behind trucks and Nissan Micras although there's a few overtaking opportunities.

I think it depends where you are trying to get to in Bristol; I live on the Downs, and its pretty painless to get there - however at leat 20% of the journey is spent traipsing across Bristols traffic.

If you are trying to get to Cribbs for example then motorway is quicker.

However, if I wanted to go like a loony (as I have done quite a few times) to get to Yeovil from Bristol at about 8 ish in the evening, then cross country is WAY quicker and less likely to get you caught by the fuzz.

There is an alternative 'fun' route that you can also take - but it's longer, but MUCH less stressful.

I grant you that at 8 in the morning you can forget getting to Bristol quickly up the A37, but then the motorway is the same.

It's all about the time you do the journey...

The well known 'over the top of Dundry route' is prob the best fun into Bristol (Cumberland basin/Portway area) from the BaNES/Chew Valley direction imho.

guys guys guys! Good routeI drive into Bris from Farrington Gurney(on A37) 3-4 times a week (to see girlf) I go through Chew Magna and down over dundry..Be sure not to hold me up

It'll be a shame when the traffic lights are operational at Podimore, even my '54 Riley smiles when it's pushed round there.....

I had some crazy old git crash into me while going around the roundabout in October 2005. This was before the light scheme came along. I thought it just needed some white lines painted on it so that 'crazy old git' can stay in his own lane rather than crunch his way into mine.
