Snow/Ice on roads South West

Thought it would be good to have a general thread for info on the roads

I stayed in Reading last night and notice the M4 J18 jamcams are out of use - anyone know whats happened?

Took me nearly an hour to get out of Preston Grove in Yeovil this morning, compacted ice everywhere.

Would be interested to know this too - I've got tomorrow off so would like to make it home (from North London) tonight.

The JamCams on the M4 & M5 show the Motorways as clear, and only light snow is predicted for Brizzle. So I'm hoping to get out of London in one piece and make it back without drama.

Roads in and around Exeter are fine. A light dusting over night, which seems to be thawing already.

Had about 3 or 4cm in Honiton. UNgritted cul-de-sacs are fun, but main roads (A30) are fine. Can't speak for the A30/A303 further afield (over the Blackdowns).

I very nearly collected a van on the way to work this morning at the first large roundabout on Great Western Way, near Jnct 16.

The minor roads in North Swindon are not especially well gritted. Very slippery.

No, I don't have winter tyres.

When I left WSM this morning it was clear, only a tine amount which couldn't even be discribed as a dusting Filton is still currently ok too with nothing falling from the skys

(Edit -- main roads look ok. M4 looks ok. Sideroads may be compact and slippery nastiness)

Bath/Corsham fine and clear. side roads are slightly slushy, but not bad at all

Very little snow around Gloucester but because the temps are so low it's REALLY slippery out there.

got all the way to melksham from cheltenham only to crash into a curb in a side road leading up to site! i was the fifth one to go off at that roundabout this morning very very slippery

A3052 from Sidmouth to Beer is totally clear and id guess the rest of the A3052 is too seeing as its a major bus route

Rural stuff around Broad Hinton/Avebury etc slippery but passable - few drifts this morning but less by tonight.
Anything vaguely main seems fine.
Just take your time out there - the goings the easy bit the stopping can be a bit harder!

Roads still dodgy though, had the "low traction" warning coming on all over the place on the A370 just now, even though the road looks fine. Monaro not noted for great traction though.

Never made it home after all, day off was "revoked" as we're too busy and I'm a soft touch.

So it will be Friday night fun as usual - no snow forecast and rising temps so hopefully the worst of the weather has passed for now. Might even get to play football on Sunday!

Swindon looked ok this morning too (and I'm driving the car today).
