When I lived in Bristol I always used to use 5Stokes in Stoke Gifford. Very cheap and very reliable - always busy.

By the state of the cars that they have on sale I wouldn't even take the mother in laws car there...

Ouchie. Never bought a car from them, granted, but I've used them for MOTs and other bits. In fact they've gone out of their way to help me a few times. The old dear has used them for over twenty years with no problems.

If Bedminster is more convenient try Smyth Road Garage.

Having left a number of garages in Bristol feeling a tad ripped off, I eventually found a father & son outfit based in North Bristol, just on the edge of Bradley Stoke/Winterbourne - company is called Court Vehicle Services & the main fella is called Bob. http://www.courtvehicleservices.co.uk/

He's very genuine, and very reasonably priced. If you live locally he'll pick up your car & leave you with a hire van/car for the day for a small fee too.

Almost all his work is word of mouth - which speaks for itself in my opinion. Worth noting that he's usually busy & booked up a week or so in advance.

I wouldn't take my car anywhere else now.

For Ford servicing I go to Brookfield Garage just off Muller Road. Tis a Ford specialist.

Ford trained mechanics who left the main dealer and look after my van very well. Have been there a lot in the 18 months I've had the van. Always thorough and never waste my money biggrin

Thanks for that. Really close to me. Think I will give them a try when I need something doing. I like their website.

After picking up the car this evening from Bonds in Kingswood I can thoroughly recommend them.

They were polite, courteous, explained everything to me in great detail, and although there was a fair bit needed doing, and I left considerably poorer than when I dropped the car off, they discussed all the options with me, weren't pushy about any of the work they recommended, and were very helpful throughout.

Shall certainly be going back there next time and definitely recommend to anyone else who has had bad experiences in the past and looking for somewhere professional and trustworthy!
