We're due our first little bundle of joy in a couple of months and the OH's Mini just isn't going to be big enough for all of the baby paraphernalia, so we started to look for something else. I went out and bought a 330i M-Sport Touring on a bit of a whim, but when I got it home I looked at insurance and they wanted well over £1k so I got shot of it....shortest I've ever actually owned a car!

After looking at everything possible, a common theme seemed to be occurring that unless it was a 4x4 she found a reason for it not to be a sensible car....her sister having a baby and a 4x4 may have had a rather large bearing on her decision making!

Anyway, as some people may know I manage a Merc dealer and we happened to have a nice 5.5 V8, ML500 on the front, so I decided if it had to be a 4x4 it might as well have a decent lump in it....so here it is, give her a flash if you see her poncing about in it!

Mines a 5.7 litre Merc 4x4 with a turbo, but it doesn't do fast. I've never liked the MLs, but have to admit, that does look pleasing to the eye. Nice stance without being too bling nor bland.

My cousin is in the same predicament, his other half has a bun in the oven and she currently drives a Mini conv. THey are considering in his opinion a 'cheap' ML as a replacement. He then said he was looking at a long wheel base Defender on an 09 plate so im guessing not that cheap. If you get any decent MLs coming in as a px in the next month or two give me a PM.

All the best with the new motor, you and Tom are starting a new trend!!

Cheers all!

Jon, I'm a bit further west in sunny Dorch! I'm hoping that now she's happy with this she won't object to me buying something for myself....probably not till next year though! Might have to bring this along on an early morning hoon, could be a laugh!

Shan, it's not the most popular of colours, I didn't really like it before, but it kind of suits this, doesn't look as girly as the normal ones do because of the AMG kit. Getting about 21/22 mpg out of it, so not too bad so far! How's the RS6? I'd love to go for a blast in that sometime....

Yeah would have been us yesterday eddie, were you in the 5? Surprised I didn't spot you! I did see a nice metallic red saloon yesterday, never seen one in that colour before.

No I was in the wifes Brera Prodrive mate. Despite your cars understated looks it still has a strong presence. Looked good.
