I know this may not be that much help if you don't have one, but the one I downloaded on my iPhone that was very accurate.
If you know anyone with an iPhone/Pad/Touch, could be a cheap solution!

I have a db meter app on my phone Pete.. Will be using it this weekend, I suspect for the same reason as you..

If you have a smart phone you should be able to get hold of an app easily enough.

you got it Dave!...how far over are you?? thinking mine's mostly bass volume that'll exceed 105dB, but shouldn't draw so much attention and it's the high rasp end of the spectrum, that mine doesn't have, that'll cause problems for a few others... I've haven't been tested on all 4 trackdays...

My readings off one side pipe were

93dB idle
105 @ 2700
108 @ 3900 (3/4 max power)
114 @ 4500 (3/4 redline)

...some work to do!
