Parking in Brighton

So i have the weekend in Brighton for a wedding...

Staying in Jury's Inn, near to the main rail station.

Where to park? There's no parking at the hotel, however the rail station has parking for £11 a day.

Is there anything cheaper in the area? Could i find a residential area close by and park up there for the weekend?

I haven't been there for years but they had scratch-card type parking when I was there last. There's a few car parks just off the seafront (Kings Road??) - one below the Thistle Hotel was the one I always used when I was at Uni there. Plenty of others too.

The general advice to anyone contemplating parking in Brighton is either:
- don't even think about it, or
- bring a well filled wallet.

All the car parks are Expensive (note the capital 'E') and some are frequented by some very unpleasant people at night. In particular I'm thinking of the London Road MSCP which isn't far from your hotel (though far enough!).

In the residential areas non-resident parking restrictions have moved inland from the sea front over the years carrying a tide of old vans/little used/second cars before it as the residents of each area complained. The restricted zone almost reaches to the A27 bypass in some places.

The station car park is probably your best bet for daytime parking. A tip for overnight parking is that the meters 'switch off' from 8pm to 8am but give credit for paid time within this period. I.e. if you pay for 4 hours at 6pm (on a 4+ hour meter) it will give you a ticket expiring at 10am (8am + 2 hours) the next day.

There is an open air car park close to Jurys Inn (not the train station car park). I'm sure when I drove past it the other day it said £6.50/day. It is open air, and there may be an attendant all day, and has a hoarding around it, but I wouldnt call it secure as such. Just north of Stroudley Rd on this link. Ignore the fact there isnt actually a road showing (its on the corner of the road that leads up to your hotel)

ETA: LoL, Ive actually managed to find it on Google Street View You can see your hotel to the right at about 2 oclock

Even the £11/day price is 'cheap' for Brighton. Brighton Council, and the tree hugging lentil eaters hate cars, period.

Let's not forget the local MP is the only Green MP.

Brighton *hates* cars with a vengeance.

I'd be tempted to park in Lewes, Hove or Worthing and
get the train in, if I had to go at all.

Better still, avoid the area.
