Hello,

I have to pick something up from near Milton Keynes tomorrow at some point. I don’t really want to be home in the middle of the night but I’d rather not sit in traffic jams all day! When would be the best time to leave? I’ll be doing M27, M3, M25 and exit M1 at J13. Are there any major roadworks or anything up there I should know about?

Will it be a nightmare if I try it midday? I went to north London via M4 and A406 on Friday and it took 4.5 hours!!! The north circular was a nightmare with roadworks everywhere. It only took 2.15 hours to get back on Sunday night!

Thanks for any advice.

I go up to Milton Keynes a couple of times a year and I always go A34 rather than M25/M1 as the M25 can be crawling at any time of the day.

I would leave at 09:00 just after the rush hour so you can get back as quick as possible, would imagine it'll take about 2 1/2 hours each way.

Someone else recommended the same thing. Will do the A34 route. smile
