Hi all,

I need to get something that is 4 wheel drive but am struggling with it. Looking to spend about 15k. Keep looking at Shoguns but am being put off by the road tax costs. Does anyone have any suggestions for something 4 wheel drive, can be a car, that doesn't cost loads on road tax? Unfortunately no Scoobys or Evos.

Cheers

Better off in General Gassing really, but have you considered an X-trail?

Good point maybe a mod could move it. My parents have an X-Trail and it is a good car I just can't get comfortable in it.

If you're looking to save on Road Tax, just buy an older car. I think it's 2003 or earlier?

You can get a good Allroad for £15k... Bit of each, 4x4 and town/motorway machine... Typical Audi service costs too...rolleyes

When you say no Scoobys, is this referring to Impreza's? I ask because the Legacy is a lovely car, and for a little over £15k you might get a boxer diesel in one.

Skoda Octavia Scout? 1.9 PD engine, haldex four wheel drive, good economy and reasonable on the road tax front too. Used examples from around £12k upwards.

Ditto this, look like nice cars. Someone at work has one and they have some presence.

Yes I was referring to Impreza's, should of been a bit clearer on that.

As for the Scout again a good option that I hadn't thought of. I am changing both cars, Octavia VRS and 535d M Sport, so not sure if going from one Octavia to another would feel like enough of a change. The 535 is the OH's and it will be morphing into a TT, more of a womans car!

Still a couple of good suggestions that I hadn't thought of so best do some test drives. I quite like the look of the A6/S6. RS6 would be good but the OH would not be impressed, had one as a courtesy car when the Gallardo went in for a service and she didn't like it, well how often I was putting fuel in it anyway.
