Hello,

Not sure what to do. There's been a big 4x4 parked outside my house for a week now. There are 4 parking spaces for 3 houses so there's usually space without having to park on the other side of the cul-de-sac but now there's this big truck taking up 1.5 spaces. I squeezed in there today but it meant my car almost touching the 4x4. The truck has "ON TOW" stuck on the back so I assumed it wasn't roadworthy. It has tax but after checking online it's not insured. It's in the cul-de-sac so on a public road, but not being used.

Not sure whether to report it, and who to. The police? Part of me just says to mind my own business, it's not being used and I'm sure the owner will move it or sort it soon. Part of me says it's in the way and is ugly! It wasn't a problem as my neighbour had been away for a couple of weeks so there were parking spaces, now she's back, we're a space down and it's a bit annoying.

What do you reckon? What would the punishment be? I just want it moved really.

In the current climate of trouble I would say the following to you! "Moral courage and consequence of action".

Two things that would go along way towards fixing our great nations ill's if everyone adopted them as by words!

I did in a similar case, except it was also untaxed. I reported it to the Council and a Police website for such reports (can't remember it now). It took a few weeks but they stuck a sticker on it and then a couple of weeks later came back and popped it on a flat bed truck and drove away. End of story.

Yeah call it in we have had a dodgy car or two parked up out road by someone who disappears round the corner. We and other residents call them in.
If the hand break of the van fails and it rolls into your car or worse squashes someone.....

cheers

I'd report it too, its not like it'll get picked up & squashed within an hour of your call. The owner will get plenty of chance to sort it.

YES! Scum like that wreck other peoples lives when they hit them! Can't afford the insurance don;t own the car. Quiet call to the local BiB OR post some details here, plenty of BiB here that would be glad to help the public and catch the buggers

I'd mind your own business...

It's not doing any real harm is it? Life is too short to go meddling.

My other half got fed up with a rudely parked car and got the police out to tow it away. One flat bed later and there was another access to the back alley.

We were told there was 33 more important calls before hand but it was still gone within the hour.

Strange thing was it took three police cars and a riot van down the road.

Perhaps its a neighbours mates car that broke down and required an expensive fix so he isn't driving it whilst he waits to fix it ?

If it's not being driven every day then I would just ignore it.....

I'd ask around your road and see if anyone knows anything about it. If they do then politely ask them to move it as causing you difficulty getting on to your drive.

If no one doesn't know anything about it, then phone local station.

Agree with leesas comment, it could just be a neighbours friend who asked if he has somewhere off road to park it whilst he saves up to repair it.

A bit of diplomacy asking the neighbour why its there and why you are asking, if he comes across nasty then by all means call it in but id give the guy a chance to be nice and move it/explain his reasons. It would also save some police time if you sort it out yourself

Mmm, not the sort of neighbours I want to talk to. I know who's it is. He doesn't live there, it's his mum who lives in the street. He's always bringing old cars which leak oil all over the road! It's just annoying how he's parked it in front our our houses rather than the overflow spaces across the road. I'm guessing it's his anyway. Maybe I'll have a chat with him.
