Insurance Rage
Discussion
What is going on with car insurance at the moment? I have a multi car policy with the wife with Admiral that we have had for a year and is up for renewal in 3 weeks. I know they give you a decent deal on your first year to get you on board then hike up the premium but I was shocked when I spoke to them today.
Last year we paid £600 for both cars, my Mondeo and her Aygo. This year they want £935 for the same cover?!?!?! Apparently insurance has gone up 25% across the board over the past year but that is a massive increase. What with getting paid less and other things increasing like home energy I will be trading the Mondeo in for a £500 Fiesta before long, and thats saying something because its not like the Mondeo is even a performance car! Rant over. . . . .

Try elephant, but do it via confused.com. They are admirals sister company and for some reason they seem to give pretty decent deals through confused.
Agree with this. Admiral will then price match Elephant/Bell quotes for renewal which saves you the hassle of switching. Annoys the hell out of me the annual insurance debacle, but I've yet to fail to find cheaper cover than renewal quote; must be a certain amount of people who just don't bother to look elsewhere and this is where the insurers make easy money.
Just about to start my second year with Admiral multi car policy - I have a 360, Alfa 159 JTD and a MX5 they came back with £1060.00 so I guess that not bad then? Mind you just done some quotes on cars seperate and reckon I will be around £150.00 better off!
I did give Adrian Flux a call as I see that mention PH and how they pride themselfs on knowing about high performance cars and unlike some comapanies they don't "hike" the prices when such performance cars come along....well the first guy said he couldn't help me so had to transfer me to another department who then asked all the same questions, he then kept asking for my best quote, told him to just give me his best deal and after checking that the ferrari was a two seater! he came back with £850.00! when I told him the was double my quote I had just done on go compare he struggled to give me the time of day to say goodbye and hung up before I could say thanks for a wonderful service!
Just for the record they were also double on a classic car policy I gave them the chance to quote on! I think they need to review their website and the content, very misleading... rant over ;-) try go compare...good luck
Cheers

It is a pain in the arse ringing round and filling in details on search sites. I will give confused.com a go though. Hastings seem cheapest at the mo for both cars at 800. That's 250 for the aygo and 550 for the mondeo. Odd as its hardly a performance car and I am 30 with 8 years no claims and have advanced driving qualifications. might as well swap it for an aygo as well!! Ok its not that bad yet. I blame all the whip cash claims and old people crashing into people for no reason.

Insurance is nothing more than legalised highway robbery it's as simple as that.
3rd party medical/compo claims are the main reasons for the hikes. I'm in regular contact with a couple of brokers and some of the stories would make your toes curl.It would seem people are no longer happy with a couple of asprin and go back to work the next day after a bump! Some positively see it as a way of making ££££'s. The general public's thinking and this claim culture is not going to change now Pandora's box has been opened. Expect premiums to only go one way as the £millions in claims increases.

Simon got stitched up with Admiral on his multi car this year, give Sky a go, he got excellent deal on his Supra, (http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/) and I got super deal with Peter Best on agreed value for the Volvo (http://www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk/)
Trouble with price comparison sites you have to read all the small print to find out why there cheaper and then expect a barrage of phone calls the next day chasing your business.
Good luck anyway.
Here is another company worth a go; http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk/

Well after lots of searching and time wasting I have finally sorted it.
£273 for Jess with Hastings Direct
£489 for me with Swift Cover
Both protected no claims and legal cover etc etc. Also both are £100 excess instead of £500 with Admiral.
So thats a £762 total, saving me £173 off my renewal with Admiral.

I guess the ANPR will be on doubletime next shift as revenge for all the non-insured pushing up premiums?
'One off the road a day keeps the high premiums away!' is the slogan this week? Actually its been more than that! Certainly wont feel as bad giving out a £200 6point tickets and a £150 recovery bill each time now I have just had to shell out 25% more for my insurance. All for the greater good! Yep insurance is a rip off, glad you managed to save a few quid Jim.
Loads of threads on here about how crap they are, likewise never met a satisified customer, how do they get a good reputation when they act like this?

Adrian Flux were the most awful insurance company i have ever had to deal with.
I am still yet to find someone who has said they were cheap.
I agree Jason, have had them quote many times, most of the time they haven't got the car on the system and you speak to some giggly little girl who doesn't know the first thing about cars, let alone modified, classic or performance cars.I am still yet to find someone who has said they were cheap.

Just renewed my multicar with Admiral. I went on to the multi car policy last year to save my 22 year old son some money on his Fiesta ST.
As such my renewal date was brought forward to tie the two policies together.
At the weekend I thought that the renewal date was coming up and hadn't heard anything from Admiral. Rang them up and they said ah yes we wrote to you on 11th August and the renewal is being taken out of your account tonight.
WHOAAAAA hold on a minute I said how much - nearly £1100!!!!!
a) I have not had any renewals in the post and b) you can forget taking that out of my account.
Response - we're sorry to hear that sir can we give you a discount? Result is that I was given a £156.00 discount which meant I stayed with them but note to self to keep an eye on the slippery b***ards next year.
Scams r us!!
My policy on the Tiv went up and my son's went down even with 3 points for speeding!! That's logical!
Best price I got for the Tiv was with Churchill but only very slightly cheaper than Admiral.
Got a quote from Adrian Flux and they were exactly double that of Churchill's
