Has anyone been there? its in port solent. i am looking for a 50s/60 style diner to go for dinner on my birthday on monday.

Never been but a proper 50's/60's diner is something I've wanted to open for a long time on a large car friendly site somewhere on the South Coast!

If you do go let me know what you think.

There is a reasonable one is Southsea, forget the name( doh)
Also just went to one on the seafront in Brighton that was very good. Both have zero parking though sadly. This would make an awesome business plan, out of town, with stacks of parking..

Exactly that kind of thing with a very American menu but also very high quality!

Everything homemade and proper.

Don't know if any of you guys have visited any of the Buddies USA diners in and around Northampton, great menus and fairly decent interiors but still missing that something........................

If it's right on the seafront, on the corner, by the Thistle hotel, thats my usual haunt! & I can confirm it's bloody brilliant food wise!

That's the one. Was very impressed and we only went for breakfast. Will deffo return.

There's a good American 50s style diner at Kingsclere on the A339 just north of Basingstoke called Nelson's.

They do great pancakes and waffles and a range of milkshakes like Oreo Cookie milkshakes etc.

They seem to attract quite a few meets from various car and bike clubs in the area.

I've not been personally but I've been told that the food is overpriced given the quality. Looked nice when I walked past it though. Port Solent seems a strange place for it.

We have one in High Wycombe town center.
Never been in it but I've been told it's overpriced for the portions you get & they charge extra for add ons like chips with your burger rather than sell it as a meal.

went to deans diner tonight was really good. food was reasonably priced and it wasnt bad for burgers etc. i took a couple of pics.

Oh, I like it at Buddies.

I think their burgers are great - when you want a big, meaty - tasting burger, there's no substitute IMHO.

Yeh it is a bit pricey, but then that's Winchester all over for you. I quite like sitting out the front doing a bit of car spotting whilst servicing my ever expanding waistline...

Its ok for a mahoosive breakfast at 3am and it must be doing something right to remain as busy although i think its expensive personally and i'm sure there are smaller cafe's tucked away in Brighton that are cheaper and better, As diners go though and for a great burger try Woodies Diner up the road.

Went there yesterday for lunch with Exige Pete, it's ste, £25 for two extremely greasy burgers and two shakes. We actually felt sick when we left.
