Anyone going to the Bournemouth Porsche 991 launch tonight?
Discussion
Im just back mate. Couldnt get a signal there so dont know if you were there or not. Was bloody busy though. As for the 991, im really dont know what the fuss is about. Just looks like a more techy 997. Lots of BMW-esque buttons under the same shell.
On the upside the food and champers was a lovely refreshment after my run this evening.

Pics from the event. Sorry there are no better ones, the sheer number of Sandbanks toffs at the launch obscured a lot of the photos. Can you believe they were actually picking people up from home in a Cayenne so they could drink etc? You'd need to be a very good customer to get that sort of treatment surely.

I was supposed to be going but got stuck in a boozer in London instead. Chris Harris has done a fantastic review in this months EVO, I would have one like a shot, but £100,000 for a 911 (when just put a little ink on the options list for an S) is far far too much IMO. Let's hope they depreciate quickly and are more reasonable in a few months. Interesting when I enquired in November they quoted me a March delivery, my dad has had to wait longer for his Yeti.
I'd quite like to have gone to this, but for some reason I'm immune from the Porsche Bournemouth mailing list.
I've been in on a few occasions, in both my Cayman and in the Ferrari so hardly looking like a typical tyre kicker, yet despite telling them what I wanted I still got no call - even when they had exactly what I'd said I was wanted about 3 weeks later. Very odd.
I'd be appauled if that's how we'd treated any of our customers.
I did spot a few 991s on a transporter over the weekend, looks fantastic IMO.

Funny, I've been there only in my old BMW and always had a good service even though not bought anything yet. Jason Steel is the sales guy I deal with and he's very accommodating.I've been in on a few occasions, in both my Cayman and in the Ferrari so hardly looking like a typical tyre kicker, yet despite telling them what I wanted I still got no call - even when they had exactly what I'd said I was wanted about 3 weeks later. Bourenmouth OPC piss poor in my opinion. Went in once a few years ago to sort out about booking my old Carrera S in to have the electric window adjusted. The service I got was so poor I went home and wrote an email to the manager, his assitant emailed straight back and said he would call me to discuss my bad experience the next day, he never called. I use Guildford now, same distance roughly for me anyway.
Like Gary above I know a lot of people have great service from them, which is why I'm surprised they failed so badly with me, perhaps my face just doesn't fit as I had a equally bad experience at Meridien Modena.
I'd booked an appointment to go and look at a low mileage Exige they had in stock, I'd made it clear I was very interested and to be honest had I had a quick test-drive in it I would have bought it instead of the Cayman.
I was told they were too busy to give me a test-drive despite my making an appointment and was told I would be called the next day (Sunday) to arrange a time to come in. Got to about 2ish and I called in to see why no-one had been in contact and I was told someone walked in that morning, had a drive and bought it....I was pretty pissed off to say the least, so I bought the Cayman on the Monday! Anyway on the Tuesday I get a call saying the customer couldn't get finance and was I interested....think they had the car in stock for another couple of months after that!
I run a car dealership so the above experiences just highlight to me how we're managing to do so well in the current climate; our competition is s
