Hi All! Does anyone know what the criteria is for the scamera vans on the A27 to send off a NIP?
NSL section between Havant and Arundel.

I had one within 10 days of being caught (NIP too) - Bad times. I am still waiting for my Summons though...

I imagine the same as any other NIP, 14 days from date of offence.

Sorry, I wasn't being clear... What speed do they decide is NIP worthy?

Usually 10%+2 ish.
However, I'm sure you can clarify for sure in 13.80 days time.....

HMMMMmmmm! I'll have an achey 14 days then! I was showing 77MPH on GPS so could go either way. It was a local scamera van so probably not police. I'm assuming that these 'tax collectors' are not so lenient?

Oh well, better 77MPH in an old Astra that 1.5 leptons in the Cerb!

I'd have thought that would be 3points?

It's non Police personnel in the vans nowadays so they pretty much book everybody!

I know the feeling about the wait, about a month ago I failed to spot a mobile van at the bottom of the A34 where it meets the A33 just inside the 50 limit. Have heard nothing so I presume the car in front might have saved me.

Mate if your only just over you will probably get offered a driver awareness course. Pop along for a coffee, nod a bit and your home before you know it!

Unfortunately I had one of those just over a year ago! That means I won't get the offer again. frown

Strange thing is that when I'm out driving something 'serious' I've been lucky.
Got flashed last year for 35 in a 30 driving my Audi A6 daily snotter, this time it was in the OH's old L reg Astra 1.6.
Can't really complain though, I was speeding so I knew the risk!

Went on one myself about 6 months ago.... Must admit I turned up thinking what a heap of **** I left quite impressed however. Has changed my driving ever so slightly even now 6 months on..... a lot of crap in it but also a lot of good quality content. I've even booked the course provided to give a seminar at work for our company drivers!

If you get the chance, take the course, better than 3 points and you might take something away smile

Straight from Sussex Safer Roads site who run the cameras and courses...

Thresholds applicable:-

The course is not applicable for offences committed in a 20mph limit

¡ 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 & 42 MPH in a 30 MPH Limit
¡ 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 & 53 MPH in a 40 MPH Limit
¡ 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63 & 64 MPH in a 50 MPH Limit
¡ 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74 & 75 MPH in a 60 MPH Limit
¡ 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 & 86 MPH in a 70 MPH Limit

Time constraints :-

¡ The offender must reply to the Sussex Police offer within 14 days.
¡ Once the Course Provider sends an offer letter, the offender must reply within 21 days.
¡ If no response is received, the matter reverts back to the Police for further disposal
¡ A course can only be offered if it can be taken up and completed within four and half months from the date of the offence.

Providing the conditions, time limits and thresholds are met, a course is offered automatically.

Hope that helps.

I've been waiting for my ticket too but now with it being three weeks it looks to be o.k. I was in my van when I came across a sneaky little set-up travelling South on the Winchester Road where it goes from 70 to 60 to 50 and the M3 merges there was a van on the right hand side. As it was lunch time I can only conclude it was having it's lunch. Still a wake up call and to remind me to switch my Road Angel on every time now.
