Auto electrician in (Premiership) Southampton or Portsmouth?
Discussion
My wife's Merc SL is a 1993 with infra red remote locking.
The sensors have gone cloudy and it no longer works, its driving her up the wall as the drivers door lock doesn't work so you have to unlock the car via the boot, then go to the driver's door to get in.
I have quotes from Anglesea Car Radio in Southampton and one coming from Autonautec in Chichester, anyone else I could try?
Thanks.

I've used Auto Technix (http://www.autotechnix.co.uk/) in Shirley, Southampton and was pleased with the service.
I took it in for (a) a non-functioning rear window heater element which I suspected was a wiring problem, and (b) the airbag warning light, which I assumed was the under-seat connection.
He found that the bonded tab on the window had come loose, thus requiring a replacement window. He also fixed the airbag problem - loose curtain bag connection. This cost one hour of labour - £48 IIRC. With both items he could have spent significantly longer and billed me as such.

Try this bloke - well known round here:

But also, have you considered doing it yourself? I had a 1991 SL with a similar issue. I replaced them all myself - it's not a huge task. Have a look on www.benzworld.com in the R129 forum - lots of help and tehnical guides on there.
I more or less rebuilt mine, and had issues with I think every single system on the car at some point or another - hence I'm a bit of an expert on 129's. If you have any issues, feel free to PM me and I'll try to help
