Big Al is right on the button and absolutely correct.

You can take a delightful harbour tour, around Chichester Harbour, in a comfortable boat from Itchenor, the mini-cruise takes you down around Pilsey Island and the east side of Thorney and that's where the seals are seen, lounging on the mud, mind you, not sure that they're there all year round, I think probably not.

Bognor itself has no seals but on a sunny, hot day, the serried ranks of bodies on the beach looks like a seal colony.

Sounds like there's a slight chance i might see some then! Saw a poster for that boat trip on my camp site and i'm in the town today so will have a look. Are they visible from the land?

Not too sure I've only ever seen then from our boat which was moored at Ichenor. Walking around the harbour can get complex, a phone call to Ichenor Harbour master might assist you.

Traffic jams! Don't talk to me about traffic jams on that road - bloody holiday makers heading for the West Wittering beach/car park. I drove from Chichester to Itchenor yesterday at 11 a.m. and most of the way was in a slow crawling queue, very frustrating. It'll be that way now on every sunny day until the Schools get back to work.

Absolutely!! Could not agree with you more. We went to West Wittering beach yesterday but the traffic was so bad we had to go to East Wittering instead (which is a pebble beach as you'll know).

At least you can swim safely at East Witt and not run the serious risk of being swept away and getting drounded like they do at East Head.
Much less crowded too.
And cheaper car parking.
Decent cafes and restaurants too.
Still no seals there though.
