You can't just come on here saying you are picking up a car and not tell us what it is! Good God man.

Try Blendworth Trailers.

Or there is a chap on haying with a flatbed that does collections but I'm buggered if I can remember his name.

MX5 with a dirty big V8???? naahhh! Not old enough for a Volvo yet Dave;) It is indeed another Jag, 1976 XJ-c. Thing is its a long way to go to view so i want to pre-emt buying it so i dont have to make another journey up there. Gonna give Blendworth a try,

There is a website - a bit like a reverse ebay where you put in what you want collecting, from where and delivered to where and people bid for the work.
A mate of mine used it to get his Spitfire (Triumph not Supermarine) from west London to his place in Fareham he said it was cheaper than hiring+fuel etc.

I'll find it out for you.

No worries buddy. Struck me after I posted that you may be going to look at it for the first time and want to bring it home with you so trailer maybe a better option.
These other guys can be cheap though, so left the link there for future reference if anyone needs a 'known' car moving.

Also try the trailer gents in Broadmarsh truck park. I paid £35+ Vat I think for a full day when drifting! How far you need to tow?

They are pretty flexible, with drifting I used to pick it up the night before, and then drop it back the sunday morning. I normally get good rates at Blendworth too (used to supply them HiLux's!)

Im no longer working for Toyota, so no LC, but I have my diesel wagon, how much weight are we talking roughly, ill check the towing limits.

Hi Lou

the car weighs in at about 1700kgs. My thinking at the moment is to rag the MX up there and catch a tan. Detour through the Lakes on the way back for lunch then get one of the bidders on Shiply to collect next week! if got bids down to about £355 now. Rent trailor/Vehicle + diesel and my time i dont think i could do it any cheaper!

Missed opportunity there Dan, could have got your boats up there and brought my car back in one hit!!

Just a bit nervous of leaving cash with a guy and not taking the car there and then, who's to say it will be there when the transport turns up, or am i just a cynical old git?

Some of these delivery people will hand over cash on your behalf when they pick the item up.
