Has anyone else seen this?

I was on my way home from work and saw this on the side of Elson Road, in Gosport.

Was wondering if anyone knew what it was or what it does?

I haven't a clue but I drive down Elson Road almost every day, I'll take a look next time.

It looks like one of those "flash your speed" devices, but the ones around here are usually stuck on a lamp post or similar - that looks like a pole has been put up especially for it.

I guess it could be one of the flashing speed warning signs, or it could be something to do with traffic management because they have been 'improving' the Fort Brockhurst roundabout for what seems like months now

Could be a traffic counter.

They usually just bolt those speed things to whatever pole there is and aren't usually permanent so I'd be surprised if they put in its own post...

Looks similar to a microwave transmitter/repeater, any more within line of sight of it? Although saying that it does seem to be pointing down a bit.

No this is the only one, there isn't even one on the other side of the road
