Roadworks in Bournemouth & Poole
Discussion
They have started digging up the rat-runs around Ashley Road too. Bloody nightmare.
It took 45 minutes last night to get from Chalwyn ind (next to Ryvita) through seaview to BCS in St. Osmunds road and then back to Walisdown!
And yet, I can't take the Volvo down Ferry Way without fear of losing the exhaust because of the bloody potholes! Looks like Bosnia round there.

I had to wait a whole 5 minutes at some traffic lights this morning!
I love living and working in the New Forest!
It's amazing how slow it can get around Bournemouth and Poole though. I visited my mum in Ensbury Park the other day and a cyclist got from Bournemouth hospital to her house quicker than I did in my car!

I've done walisdown to bournemouth gardens quicker on my bike than the wife in the car. It wasn't a busy day traffic wise, there's a cracking short cut for bikes

And the New Forest can be a pig during tourist season. I used to work in a saw-mill on the outskirts of Burley and even cycling home to bransgore was a nightmare. Poole might be busy but at least it isn't held up by morons stopping their cars in the middle of the road to feed the wildlife.

The whole place is gridlocked. We've suffered the new lights on County Gates (LV). Then they close off the overpass on Richmond Hill, along with two sets of temporary lights on Lilliput. Now Lindsay Road is closed. Every route I take is f
ked.
The shore rd, lilliput lights (one set at any one time, moved through 3 positions) might have been us Wessex Water lot a month ago, digging trial holes to confirm levels and locations of services (previous drawings are often not accurate enough to be reliable...frustrating for us too!..) in preparation for a sewer replacement project in a year's time (yes...it'll be a longer set of lights then, for a few months as far as i know).
NB. we know it can look like an unecessary blockage at times: lights set up, nothing going on, no visible works. Keep in mind sometimes it's because new tarmac can need 24hrs to set properly at the works' end) or the traffic light crew (seperate company, of specially qualified workers) have to set upat a certain time and sometimes the machinery can't be delivered til few hours later, etc).
Hope this helps!
