Afternoon PH!

I've got the possibility to purchase a cheap BMW 528 from a step dads friend, it needs a bit of work doing to it as the car next to it caught alight, and this one has been written off due to the damage (cat D I believe, possibly C).

It needs a new rear bumper (possibly could get away without replacing, but want to do it), the offside rear door needs replacing (glass shattered, and also paint work is fked), looking on eBay, its around £40 for rear bumper and another £40 for the door. It also will need a near set of rear lights, around £10 I believe. But that isn't too bad at all.

Will also need a new battery, however the battery in my Audi fits it, so not fussed about that at the moment.

I'm also looking for someone to respray the rear offside panel, its got a bit of damage from the fire and the paintwork is buggered again.

Can anyone recommend anyone in the Poole/Bournemouth area that is able to help help?

Thanks smile.

A lot of the stuff you need can be acquired from Trents in Poole (no I don't work there but I go "shopping" there a lot)

I do my own spraying so I couldn't tell you where to get that done (trust me, you wouldn't want me doing it lol)

Trents was one of the places I was going to go, sadly they don't have any in the same colour though (at least on their website).

Their stock changes all the time, it'll be worth watching the breaking and the coming soon pages for a week or so.

If the car has got hot enough to cause the damage listed then some/a lot of the wiring loom in these areas may require attention too!

It appears to all be cosmetic, I think if it wasn't so old (98) it wouldn't have been written off. It still drives and everything works as it should.

He did say the a/c needs regassing, I've heard that it could often be something more serious, is that the case?

Kier you can have the rear lights from my old 528i for free if you like. They're genuine one's but not all bulbs are present/work.

Only just seen this, cheers for the offer, unfortunately I've already ordered some off eBay.

Thanks again though!

Not necessarily. Air con systems should be completely sealed (like a fridge) so if it needs regassing, something has escaped from somewhere. Probably just a seal so nothing major, but finding which one might be fun!
