Two brothers, aged 4 and 7, in hospital. One with serious injuries.

Police looking for a Red VW Polo, woman driver (a white female with shoulder length brown hair aged approximately 45 years old) who apparently stopped briefly before driving off.

Bournemouth Echo

frown

Wishing them both a full recovery. Hopefully the woman involved will hand herself in PDQ.

I hope she gets nicked and jailed. Accidents happen but there is no excuse for running away.

This is a very bizarre story. Any idea how she crashed into them as its a straight piece of road unless she was turning into it at speed from the Poole Lane crossorads?

Being kids they could of run out in front of her. To throw the eldest kid 60ft she must of hit at a fair speed.

From the reports last night...
Bournemouth Echo said:
Circumstances believed to be that a vehicle stopped to allow them to cross from the central reservation to the opposite side of road.

They are believed to have got halfway across and then a red VW Polo came up the nearside of the other vehicle that stopped, and ended up colliding with both children.

One child was thrown 20 yards up the road, while the other child was trapped momentarily underneath the vehicle.
Sounds like one car stopped to let the family cross the road, and Red Polo Woman thought she'd "undertake" the stopped car (clearly, at some speed).

Car seized and "a woman is helping police with their enquiries".

The good news is that both youngsters are expected to make a full recovery.

Sad news... but a *possible* result of driver that stopped not following highway code? i.e. driver stopping (wrongly) to let people cross, driver behind approaching and not seeing reason why driver infront stopped so assumes driver infront has parked and so rushedly overtakes and hits pedestrians. Is it in the highway code that drivers should let pedestrians cross when the driver decides (away from proper crossing points e.g. traffic lights) or to let other drivers out of side roads when it's not their priority to do so? Might sound harsh but the code's the code, init? Haven't read it word word for while so maybe it's changed and i'm wrong

5 main reasons for leaving a scene
A) no insurance/tax/mot
B) no licence
C)banned from driving
D)alcohol
E)driver knew they were at fault and panicked.

Not looking good on any of these. But good to hear the boys are recovering well.
